monochrome magic !!

stamps: joyful Christmas, dictionary from stampin up!
inks: archival ink pads (jet black, watering can)
dies: oval framelits & big shot from sizzix
extras: liquid pearls (white opal), sakura (clear star)

i decided to make a simple black and white card based on the freshly made sketch. for a different take on the design, i wanted to use just one large flower, and keep the outline simple by stamping the sentiment within the shape. I die cut an oval from the centre of a post-it note, using it to mask the area off for stamping. I stamped the dictionary into the oval area using the grey ink pad. I then removed the post-its and added the sentiment in black. i created my own little decoupage by stamping the flower twice and cutting it out by hand. the first layer used the whole stamp, but i selected only the smaller leaves for the second layer. I then used the sakura pen to add glitter to the outlines. I layered the pieces up using foam pads, then added liquid pearls to the centre for extra detail. the inside was finished off with the matching message, simply stamped in black. this is something a little different for Christmas, but i think the classic black and white with the clean design gives this card a touch of sophistication. the choice of sentiment and poinsettia (and of course the glitter) are just enough to give it that Christmas feel.
