quick and easy penguins...

  • mama elephant- artic penguin stamps and dies
  • mama elephant- jolly and merry stamp
  • SU!- joyful Christmas & wondrous wreath
  • lawn fawn statckables- stitched squares
  • mama elephant- stitched landscape dies
  • memento ink pad (tuxedo black) & copic friendly cardstock
  • copics (C00,1,3. W6,7. Y35,38)
  • tim holtz distress ink pad (weathered wood)
  • sakura glitter pen (clear star)
  • printed card blanks from craftwork cards

for the first card I die cut a square and stamped a sentiment in the top corner. I added some small stamps to add twinkle accents using the distress ink pad. I highlighted these elments with some glitter. I stamped, coloured and die cut a penguin and ice burg and glued these on to the corner of my card using foam pads.

for the second card, I die cut a hill from some white cardstock, to make some snow. I stamped the sentiment on the snow and added glitter to the word 'wonderful'. I stamped, coloured and die cut some penguins to complete the scene.

these cards are easy to repeat for batch making, as you can prepare multiple penguins and mats quickly. the images are also small which makes them easy to colour. If you don't have patterned card blanks, you could add a matt of paper instead, or create a stamped background if you wanted.

50 cheers !!

stamps: abc-123 sketch alphabet & numbers, distressed dots, for my family & teen tiny sentiments from stampin up!, cheers bear from lili of the valley
inks: archival ink (chrome yellow), tim holtz distress ink pad ( faded jeans & squeezed lemonade), memento ink pad (tuxedo black), promarkers
cardstock: craftwork cards digi cardstock, 6x6" card blank
extras: ribbon

I started by inking my card blank in blue, along with some papers to use as matching matts. I then created the background paper by inking the whole sheet yellow, then randomly stamping the '50' around the page. the second backing paper was made using the same yellow, but this time with the dots background stamp onto the white cardstock. I then stamped my image, for the topper, and coloured him using coordinating promarkers. I cut the dotty paper and topper into tag shapes and matted them onto blue inked cardstock. I then punched holes at the top to thread some ribbon through to complete the tag effect. these were then placed onto the card, following the sketch. the first was stuck using double sided and the other raised on foam pads. the final step was to stamp the sentiment onto the dotty tag, in line with the topper, using the edge of the block to make the alignment easier.

sympathy silhouettes

stamps: love & sympathy, just believe from stampin up!
inks: archival ( jet black & watering can) ink pad, tim holtz (tumbled glass, broken china & black soot) ink pads
cardstock: craftwork cards digi cardstock, 4x6" card blank

I masked off the bottom of my card blank (I used washi tape but you can use low tack masking). I stamped the larger foliage design in black, followed by the smaller foliage design in grey ink to complete a panel across the card. I then inked the card using distress and a blending tool, leaving the washi tape in place for a crisp edge to the panel. I started with the lightest colour, building up and adding darker shades along the masking lines until I achieved the desired look. I then added my sentiment by stamping it onto digi card and layering onto a simple mat I coloured black.

sparkling sophistication !!

stamps: festive decorations and simply sophisticated from lili of the valley
ink: memento (tuxedo black), promarkers and copic spica glitter pens
cardstock: craftwork cards digi cardstock and black cardstock
other: ornate #3 framelits dies from sizzix, simply gorjuss bakers twine and black organza ribbon

I made this tag as a variation on the one I did (below). this time I stamped the whole image to fit inside this curved shape, including a sentiment at the top. I kept the colouring minimal, just highlighting the detail using grey tones in promarkers, using glitter to for extra emphasis. I added some coordinating twine and a black organza ribbon to the top and secured beneath. this was then matted onto a piece of black, die cut using the next sized shape. overall I think it gives a more sophisticated, grown up take on the Christmas tag.

nuts 'n' botz !!

Stamps: stampendous botz quotz, spots botz set & hot botz, then the setsentiments come from kirsty wiseman robots birthday,
inks: memento ( tuxedo black) & letraset promarkers (in ice grey 1,2,3,4&5)
cardstock: craftwork cards digi cardstock, grey metallic paper, 6x6 card blank

i made this card with two blog challenges in mind. i based the design on the sketch, filling the squares with robots as i thought they would work well with the grey colour scheme. making the most of the stamp sets, i repeated the block of bolts and springs to create the background, which i coloured in promarkers to coordinate with the robots. to add the message, i decided to do something different... by making a slit in the robots tummy, i could slot the curled paper in to make it look like the message was popping out of the bot. i brought the design together with a metallic paper to enhance the robot theme.
